The University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling (UUGPGC) is housed in the Department of Human Genetics. Did You Know…

  • The University of Utah is home to the first and only ACGC-accredited Genetic Counseling Program in Utah.
  • The average incoming class size for the UUGPGC is 10 (ten) students.
  • On average, students participate in over 150 cases through their clinical training.
  • We provide a highly supportive and collaborative educational environment. For the three most recent classes of students (UUGPGC classes 2022, 2023, and 2024), the degree completion rate is 100% (0% attrition).
  • Our cumulative board examination pass rate for first-time test takers in the three most recent classes (UUGPGC classes 2021, 2022, and 2023) is 85% and above the national average.
  • UUGPGC graduates are prepared to enter a wide variety of genetic counseling settings. Ninety percent (90%) of graduates of the three most recent classes (UUGPGC classes 2022, 2023, and 2024) accepted genetic counseling or related positions.
  • All UUGPGC students receive some tuition support from the program.
  • The UUGPGC is proud to have a strong network of alumni across the country working in a wide variety of clinical and expanded genetic counseling roles.
